Key Details for Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher Waiting List Opening
- When: The waiting list for the Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher program will be open for four days, from Tuesday, October 31, 2023, at 10:00 a.m. to Friday, November 3, 2023, at 4:00 p.m. Eastern Time.
- How to Apply: To apply, visit the HACP’s website at www.passaichousing.org. Please note that only one pre-application per household is allowed, and no applications will be accepted in person at the Housing Authority office located at 52 Aspen Place, Passaic, NJ.
- Need Assistance?: If you require assistance in completing and submitting your application, you can visit the Passaic Senior Center at 330 Passaic Street, Passaic, NJ. Additionally, if you don’t have access to a computer or mobile device, the Passaic Public Library (195 Gregory Avenue, Passaic, NJ) and Reid Memorial Library (80 Third Street, Passaic, NJ) can help you with the process.
Eligibility Requirements
To be considered for the waiting list, you must meet the following eligibility criteria:
- Applicants must be 18 years of age or older.
- Be a U.S. citizen or other eligible non-citizen.
- Meet income eligibility requirements based on the household size.
Here are the maximum annual household income thresholds for different household sizes:
- 1: $45,400
- 2: $51,850
- 3: $58,350
- 4: $64,800
- 5: $70,000
- 6: $75,200
- 7: $80,400
- 8: $85,550
Preference in Tenant Selection
Preference will be given to applicants who fall into the following categories:
- Veterans
- Residents of the City of Passaic
- Head or spouse working in the City of Passaic
Qualified applicants will be added to the existing waiting list in chronological order based on the date and time of their application submission. If you meet the criteria, you will receive notification by mail confirming your placement on the waiting list. In cases where applicants do not qualify or have incomplete applications, their submissions will be returned.
