I am acquainted with a single mother with three kids who has had a voucher to purchase a house for more than half a year, but she has not been able to locate anything reasonable. Recently, she identified a place in Zion, close to Lewis, and the landl I am acquainted with a single mother with three kids who has had a voucher to purchase a house for more than half a year, but she has not been able to locate anything reasonable. Recently, she identified a place in Zion, close to Lewis, and the landlord promised it would be newly renovated. However, when she got there, she found it was infested with cockroaches; the proprietor claimed they wouldn't have been visible if she had arrived during the day. She contacted the Housing Agency, and the man said he would extend her voucher for another thirty days. But now, she has found a property in Fox Lake and the Agency has told her the voucher has expired. This woman and her daughters are going to have to wait much longer before they can move in. I was in tears because I felt so awful for her; she had just located a great place and then they changed their story. In my opinion, Clay County Housing is corrupt, not caring for the people as they should, and are ruthless and inconsiderate. May God have mercy. more ... hide ...

Just received my voucher and have been searching daily for something Its so sad how these properties are stereo typing people with these vouchers Almost every apartment I applied for doesnt accept these voucher Called the housing authority to see if Just received my voucher and have been searching daily for something Its so sad how these properties are stereo typing people with these vouchers Almost every apartment I applied for doesnt accept these voucher Called the housing authority to see if they could assist and was told they have a listing up That listing is terrible its like they try to keep the people who receive these vouchers all in one place Its so sad that people like me who would do right by the voucher dont get a chance because of previous voucher holders Why still have this program if its clearly set up for failure Just eliminate it in Lake county because clearly no one accepts these vouchers more ... hide ...

Got accepted for a housing voucher i applied for at 18 back in 2013nDid my interview was granted a 2 bedroom for me and my sonnSearched for about 4 months with absolutely no luck Places accepting it were either barely livable or there would be a Got accepted for a housing voucher i applied for at 18 back in 2013nDid my interview was granted a 2 bedroom for me and my sonnSearched for about 4 months with absolutely no luck Places accepting it were either barely livable or there would be a wait list that went past my voucher expiration datenFinally got desperate and begged my current landlord who agreed to help set it upnWe went through the whole process to get 1st denied because they lost some of my paperwork and had already closed my casenLuckily i had done all my paperwork through Google docs and had time stamps on it and was able to fight for my case to be reopenednAfter that I was denied again because turned in my paperwork Oct 1st in Novemeber the amount the housing dept pays goes down and wont cover my rent anymorennDONT WASTE YOUR TIME APPLYINGnI SEARCHED FOR 5 MONTHS FOR THEM TO DENY ME ON EVERY EXCUSE THEY COULD prime example of how the government is set up for our failure more ... hide ...
