As a twentysomething, I have plenty to say about working here. It is a lot of things, and I really enjoy it. It's so different from my former workplaces, which were full of drama; this place is straightforward and positive. We have a great leadership team with Kathy as Director and Robyn Cole as Programs Manager - they keep everything running smoothly. Whenever I have a query, I am given answers, something my old friend used to say: "It takes a passionate group of people to maintain a well-oiled machine." He was definitely right. This place has achieved such success because of the brilliant management, board, and members of the community. As a very vocal young woman, I am aware that managing staff can be difficult at times, and our team handles every situation with appropriate grace and patience. If you're considering working here, be ready to learn and expect a no-nonsense atmosphere. When I signed up for housing 4 years ago, I was told there would be a 2-3 year wait list. Kelsie, the woman I spoke to, was very friendly and assured me I was making progress. I called Kelsie back, and she suggested I start packing, as she was looking forward to meeting me. However, I waited and waited, until I called today and spoke to Marilyn. She informed me that priority is given to people who already live in Newport, and if someone from Newport is #47 on the list and I'm #1, they'll get the apartment instead of me. She then advised me to move to Newport if I wanted to get on the list faster. But if I could afford to move to Newport, why would I have applied for housing in the first place? Fortunately, I now have financial means to purchase my own place, but I still wanted to check on the status of my application. I was told that even if I'm told 2-3 years, I should plan on 20-30. Additionally, when I applied for an apartment in Lincoln City at the same time, I was called within a year. The only reason I turned it down was because the only unit was upstairs, and I had been in an accident and was in a wheelchair, so I couldn't access it. Ive called multiple times and left a message both times before Friday because I know theyre closed and both times after lunch because I know theyre also closed from 121 and no one has reached out

I am commenting from the inside of HALC I was hired as a Section 8 specialist by Kathy Kowtko I was told that this position would take at least a year even with training to get all of the information down I was also told on my first day that Robyn I am commenting from the inside of HALC I was hired as a Section 8 specialist by Kathy Kowtko I was told that this position would take at least a year even with training to get all of the information down I was also told on my first day that Robyn Cole was going to do my training Then 2 months in with no training I asked for some of my work to be scaled back as it was very overwhelming That work was never held back and I was increasingly making mistakes big ones that I didnt understand One day after work Robyn Cole had gone home so I asked Kathy a question When Robyn Cole found out the next day I was totally cut off from my trainer Following this my coworkers were afraid to talk to me because Robyn Cole might turn on them So that left me with no one to ask questions not Kathy Kowtco Robyn Cole who created a hostile work environment and definitely not my coworkers I loved my job I tried so hard to figure things out on my own I was going to work and being silent all day Some days no one spoke to me in 7 hours I guess what Im trying to say is that if youre thinking about working here please understand that you will be required to know everything and that if you find yourself on the receiving end of Robyn Coles hostility plan on spending all your time trying to learn by yourself and still getting let go after a few months Do not love your job because it wont be there when you least expect itnnIt has also come to my attention that good employees at HALC have been on the receiving end of Robyn Coles hostility and have been let go or have quit because of it When I was initially having problems with Robyn Cole Kathy said Robyn is not happy in her position and that as bad as Robyn Cole was she had gotten a lot better lately so I dont know how the other employees stayed for 2 hours let alone long enough to deal with her for any length of time more ... hide ...
