Wow, I'm homeless and disabled, my family is too, and even with 10 kids who are homeless with us, this agency has NO housing options for ANY of us. The Section 8 waiting list is years long, and now that cold weather is coming, my 74-year-old mother and my 85-year-old uncle are the only ones to provide housing for 8 young kids who don't have a place to sleep but on top of blankets on a concrete floor. Are the workers here not aware of the harshness of rural poverty? It seems like it, because regardless of whether you're disabled, have children, or need to displace elderly people, you CAN'T get help. Is this the fault of Sacramento? We can't tell, because if it is, this agency isn't saying. Five stars for defending the state government, but negative one plus for failing to stand up for the disabled, families, children, and elderly that they're supposed to support! I can't give a worse review or I would. I have a collapsing spine and now I'm sleeping in a cold tent without any heat. These people don't care. Vanessa, the housing coordinator (ext. 125 of TCHA), is cold and indifferent towards us and rarely offers any help. Just more power trips and unhelpful comments. It's more ... hide ...

She treated me with both respect and worry for suitable and secure habitation for me and my son. However, when my time limit was up, I couldn't manage the cost of the $800 rent. My landlord, recognizing me as a neat and reliable tenant, decreased the rent to $650. After a few months, he got an offer he couldn't resist and sold the house I had lived in for 8 years. I had no savings and ended up sleeping in my car for quite a long time. Homeless Alliance at long last stepped in after almost two years and had my new Section 8 program quickened and I moved into an apartment. During this cycle, I was in contact with my new Section 8 worker, Elsa. She was impolite, brusque, and had no opportunity to converse with me. She lacked customer service friendliness and tact. I heard numerous protests about her, both on a personal level and additionally through the numerous projects I had been alluded to the past two years. The last two weeks Elsa spent at the Tulare Housing, she changed her demeanor to cordial and after that promptly resigned. A Mr. Perez has since taken her place since July 2020. My experience with HUD has been very positive As long as you do the footwork required get the necessary paperwork for them then everything will go smoothly Everyone there is welcoming even though they are very busy
