I initially applied for assistance from the Bellingham housing authority in April 2008, yet I have never received any type of aid in the thirteen years since I first made the request. The personnel of the housing authority is utilizing the funds granted during the pandemic to acquire new laptops so they can work from home. Ignoring all the people experiencing homelessness who are in need of assistance, that money is better used to make their jobs more convenient. When I finally arrived at the top of the waiting list for public housing and submitted all my home information, I was told my housing assistance was denied without explanation, and they still have not returned my calls. When I sought legal help on this matter, again, we were informed they were out of the office and never responded to our calls. I have filed a complaint with HUD and the state, and was put on a long list of similar individuals who have grievances about the services or lack thereof that they have been given. The app does not allow you to send a message to the staff, nor can you upload any documents through this app. The waiting list is simply a representation of a waiting list and not the exact numbers, so it is not up to date. The app is not informative, and you cannot send any messages to the staff or check what openings they currently have. This is not a reliable app and not supervised by the staff, thus it will not get you on a waiting list or sign you up. You have to keep calling to get more ... hide ...
