Within two days of receiving our first voucher, it was taken away from us just after we had expended effort and resources to apply for the apartment in person. Our application was approved, however this opportunity was taken away from us for a long time. When it came to the second voucher, we faced yet another issue as the apartment would not accept my pet bird, despite the fact that cats and dogs were allowed. Despite being told that birds were accepted prior to signing the agreement, this condition was changed afterwards, and I was not refunded my 700 non-refundable fees. In addition, you normally have to pay security deposits, application fees, pet rent, pet fees, renters insurance, and utility deposits even in apartments that accept Section 8 housing. No matter how many vouchers I received, I was unable to find a suitable apartment. It was especially hard to locate three bedroom places, with the most I was able to find being two or one. With a strict deadline looming over my head, it was a horrible experience to be misled and have my hope and joy taken away.
