In November 2021, I was accepted for an apartment prior to my lease expiring in January 2022. Now, it is February and my child and I are homeless. The majority of apartments that rent for less than $1400 monthly tend to have landlords that don't take care of the building or tenants, are infested with roaches, are in need of repairs, and are not suitable for my medical conditions. Last year, I gave up a low-income flat in Downtown Phoenix to use my section-8 voucher, and now it's the second year and I have been without a home since January 2022. I cannot locate a place to rent in Chandler that costs less than $1500. I obtained a job, yet I still haven't received an updated voucher due to the rise in income. I haven't been given the necessary paperwork to present to potential landlords when I locate a property. I have lost multiple housing chances as the housing specialists are either out of the office, overworked, or I'm unsure of the reason, but I am so exhausted of this. Personally, I feel like Chandler Housing is intentionally neglecting clients as they want us to move to another place.
