However, once new owners came in, we were treated like criminals, being asked to provide an abundance of documents to prove our identity and where we worked. Eventually, we got everything sorted, but then we were told we had to vacate the premises within 30 days due to our annual income being slightly above the limit for a household of two. This put us in a difficult situation as we had to quickly find and secure another property while packing up our belongings. We eventually found a place that required us to pay $600 upfront for the first month's rent plus a $800 deposit, but Cedar Hill then gave us only 3 days to move out and demanded a further $500 rent for that month. We managed to relocate in the time given, but when we returned the keys, they refused to give us back the security deposit due to a lack of proof of payment. To add insult to injury, they also wanted to charge us an additional $194 for the time that our items were still in the apartment. The current owners of these apartments are unscrupulous individuals that will take advantage of you and treat you with contempt for their own benefit. We strongly advise against renting from them if you want to protect your sanity and your wallet.more ...hide ...
