Although Minnie Street has had a negative reputation, I've never felt unsafe or had any issues, even when I returned home late at night. The manager, Alva, is friendly and can communicate in Spanish. The apartments are clean, although there are cockroaches outside, only during the night. They are fumigated often, which can be a hassle if you have to empty your kitchen and cupboards, but it's worth it to know you won't be dealing with an infestation. We've needed repairs a few times, but they do it promptly. You are always notified ahead of time when they will be entering your apartment. Inspections are done frequently, both by the complex and the city since it is low-income housing. The only downsides I can think of are the parking spaces being a bit small, difficulty in finding a spot for guests, and the laundromats having malfunctioned several times. But overall, I've loved living here (around two years) and I feel more at home than I have in any other apartment complex I've been in.
