If they had done their research, they would know that most tenants with vouchers cannot meet this requirement since their voucher covers the majority of their rent. Therefore, the correct way to calculate the rent should be three times the tenant's portion. For instance, if the rent for a one-bedroom is $1300 and the voucher covers $1200, the tenant then only owes $100, meaning they must have 3 times that amount, which is $300. Even though these places say they accept vouchers, they still keep the same qualifications for those wishing to use it. If they don't want to accept Section 8 tenants, they should state this clearly instead of saying that they need three times the conventional rent. It should also be noted that if the tenant is on a voucher and paying three times the conventional rent, it is considered fraud and both parties may be in trouble with the government. Thank you.more ...hide ...
