Supposedly this is independent living, but we are told where to sit and when to do so - which is taking it too far. We are only renting the space, and the business doesn't let us use the common area downstairs until staff has left. Shockingly enough, someone was found dead there this morning after being sprayed; no one knows how long she had been there for or how much longer she would have gone unnoticed if we were allowed to stay down there.
Previously we could observe tenants entering/exiting and alert staff if needed; that's not permitted anymore either. At one time there was a table where canned goods were set out in case anyone needed food - now that's not allowed either as it isn't their responsibility to provide food for tenants. One tenant went an entire week without any food which probably wouldn't have happened if they still had access to it on the table. Staff can yell at tenants with impunity due to personal issues they may be dealing with in life - I guess I've vented enough! All I'm asking is that living conditions improve and rules become more reasonable as we are human beings who just want respect, not be treated like puppets/toys.more ...hide ...
