They have a part of the facility specifically dedicated to seniors struggling with Alzheimer's and/or Dementia. My Dad was in the Traditional Assisted Living section of Providence House for two years. The environment was clean, and the staff were courteous and professional. I never had any issues with them. The staff kept the residents active, and made sure they were well-groomed and cared for. There was even a small spa and beauty shop available for the residents. There was a nice TV area too. The food was better than that of many other Assisted Living Communities in the Boston area. I visited a number of them before choosing Providence House. Recently, with my Father's condition deteriorating, I am thankful that there is also a Memory Unit (Beechwood) on site. Residents get the same care, but with extra supervision. I would highly recommend Providence House to anyone looking for an Assisted Living facility for their relative. However, I would caution anyone to watch over their loved one's belongings when they are in the care of others. After my Father contracted COVID, he was moved to a Long-term Care facility, and some of his items were stolen. I brought my concerns to their attention but nothing was done, even after I sent a picture of him wearing his new Columbia winter coat, which was also taken by a staff member.more ...hide ...

The food is old, the staff is disrespectful, and they don't really help with anything. While I was there, my work uniforms were stolen, among other things, and the staff just said "Wow." There was no disciplinary action taken or anything. Another resident either lost or had her money stolen and, at the time of the incident, I was at work. They never gave me transportation to or even assistance with getting there, but when I arrived back the next morning, I was accused of stealing and told that no resources would be given to me because I got my hair done and bought new uniforms. The place is very unsanitary- they have roaches and bedbugs. Don't let them fool you into thinking they don't because they will tell you they wash everything before it's taken back to the living commons. They force religion on you and treat adults like 12 or 13 year old kids. If you have court or probation, they don't help you get to or from there. There are plenty of other shelters out there that are somewhat better than this one. Save your money and find an apartment.more ...hide ...
