I've been living in a building owned by Cruz and they have been a huge disappointment. Poor preventive maintenance, an inattentive staff, and mistreatment of tenants have been ongoing issues. Poor preventive maintenance, an inattentive staff, and mistreatment of tenants have been ongoing issues. When I requested a handicapped ramp be installed, they attempted to avoid the situation even though it is legally required. During renovations, I had to fight to ensure better accessibility for wheelchair users. Furthermore, they lied to tenants about what was going to be renovated and Danny Cruz was discourteous when I asked questions about accessibility and the heating system. It turns out the system was not the same one from 1988, as he had claimed. Recently, there was a flood that I had warned them about, but due to the neglect of an employee, the work order was not written and the tenants had to suffer. I was unable to use my cooking range and had to order take out, and Cruz has yet to reimburse me for it. We almost never see anyone from Cruz at our property unless it is for a PR stunt. They claim to care about the Cape Verdean community, yet they don't take care of Verdean Gardens 1st! There are a lot of us living in their properties. more ... hide ...
