Me and my husband have lived in Southgate Co-Op going on 6 yrs., this November. We love living here. There are activities for everyone to enjoy at there own pleasure. Great eating places, Good shopping near by at CVS, Walgreens, Trent wood Farms Market with good produce, meats,& deli.I love the fact theres no snow to remove, cutting grass, or having to pay some one to fix what goes wrong in our apt. They keep up the building. with yearly inspections. Co-op is about work with others, helping out, volunteering is what keeps it flowing. Back in 1800 Rochdale, England there were Pioneers that started out establish a principal that today is follow through CSI Support & Development sees to keep those principals going. The apartments are really nice. This is no ordinary apartment building its a Co-op living and we welcome all new ideas cause those living here knows what will work and what wont. We are democratically control. one member, one vote. to be a member theres a member fee that you pay and it entitles you to a vote from color of paint for walls, to carpet being put in. positions I volunteer for are, Education Chairperson, Leasing Committee, interviewer, congress committee, kitchen committee, treasurer. president, floor rep. & receptionist for the main office. So you see I help educate, meet new members coming in, help feed members, kept books, and represented the building, and the floor Im on. Volunteering keeps you active and you dont have time. You can come down and talk with others and when you had enough you can go back to you apartment. we do offer a lot for members its up to them to come and enjoy them. We go on trips once a month, trips to dollar tree, craft stores, Christmas Tree Shops. they take us shopping to Wal-Mart on Tuesday, and Meijer on Thursdays each week. We go on luncheon trips some floors go out and they have a great time talking and getting to know each one. We have bingo here twice a week, pinochle, have arts and crafts, painting class a nice library with books they can read there or take to the apt. work on puzzles in library. We also, have dinners for Thanksgiving, Christmas, Easter, they have outdoor BBQ on memorial day, 4th of July, Labor day. these trips our available to anyone to go on our van with a payment for some areas, but it get us out of the co-op for a day for some who dont have no way to get out. I dont know how much more I can say, but I love living in this co-op.so you see we do offer a lot here.
