So, when I finally applied, I sent my pay stubs and everything else; they phoned me saying my pay stubs were not valid with my gross pay. I am a twenty-year-old African-American woman and I make $65,000 a year. I tried to have her explain to me how my pay stubs were invalid, but she could not make it clear. I said that she could contact my employer directly if she had any questions about my pay stubs; she kept cutting me off saying it did not make sense and I was not accepted, then ending the call. I contacted my employer to inform them of what she was telling me, and they clarified everything and even told me to have her call them. She still did not listen to me and kept discouraging my words. She did not even make an effort to contact my employer to confirm anything. I felt very discriminated against, as if she did not want to give me the apartment from the start.
