When I learned I was pregnant, I wanted to upgrade to a two-bedroom to have more space for my son, and they said it wouldn't be a problem and I'd just need to sign a new agreement and pay the new rent. WRONG! As it got closer to time, they told me I'd have to pay a new deposit plus first month's rent, which I didn't have the money for, so I renewed my lease. A month into the new lease, my apartment got bedbugs. They claimed I was responsible for the extermination costs as my unit was the only one with them, but that was a lie - other units had them and I saw other mattresses in the dumpster as proof. Even after calling the exterminator myself, I was told it was a recurring issue that had been present before I moved in. It took them weeks to spray, and the exterminator damaged some of my belongings in the process. St. Lukes demanded I pay the full rent and the extermination fees, which I refused. I offered to pay a prorated amount for the rent since I couldn't use my apartment, but I ended up terminating my lease, and it was the best move I could have made - more ... hide ...

Supposedly this process should only take one-and-a-half weeks, but due to workers being on leave, I just had to bear with it. 2. When it was time for me to sign the lease agreement, since I couldn't come in until later due to work commitments, I asked if I could take it home and read it before signing...I WAS TOLD NO. 3. Even though this felt weird, I went ahead with the procedure; while reading through the agreement they handed me a phone (not knowing who was on the other end) and said that I should give them my details for a transfer of name. 4. After hanging up, when asked if they got me an apartment like the one which was viewed earlier before deciding on applying; their response was NO as they expected me sign up for something unseen! It turned out that apartment mentioned was located two buildings away from where we seen previously! 5. YOU CAN ACHIEVE SOMETHING BETTER! Even with bad credit (which is what mine is), you can absolutely find something better than this place; desperate as my situation seemed (needing immediate relocation without co-signer or good credit score) - thankfully didn't more ... hide ...
