Peter Loftis, the son of William "Bill" Loftis, requested that staff not allow his father's wife of 25 years, Mary Lou Loftis, nor myself to contact Bill or receive any information about his well-being. My mother and Bill had been married since 1992 and even in his time at the home were still wed. I continually attempted to communicate with Bill, yet was denied by the personnel. This caused my mother to spend the last two years of her life asking where her husband had gone. Peter Loftis also took all the money that my mother and Bill had shared and put it towards Bills care, escalating my mother's already unbearable anguish. Bills second wife, Marie Loftis, was also a resident at St Anns, but not his wife at that time. Do not put your loved one at this home due to the staff's refusal to provide you with information about their condition. This is not an appropriate way for families to be treated.more ...hide ...

It is a non-profit and relatively unknown, but my mom has been living there for two years and we visit five times a week. The nurses and aides are caring and loving, and the dining room food is excellent. The facility is always being updated and is the best kept secret in Grand Rapids! During my mom's final week, the caretakers went above and beyond; hospice was called, and the staff brought carts of calming CDs, coffee, tea, and snacks. Sister Gabriella provided spiritual support, and the atmosphere was so supportive and serene as my mom left this world. It was a life-changing experience that was incredibly positive and peaceful. I cannot express how wonderful it was to have my mom's passing occur in such a comforting and spiritually-enriching environment.more ...hide ...

Before he could be transferred, however, we discovered he had tested positive for Covid-19, despite being vaccinated, and the rehab center had to accept Covid-positive patients. As this was our first time dealing with such an issue, we were very fortunate to find St. Anns. The staff at the Covid unit were incredibly kind, understanding, and communicative, and we felt secure that my dad was getting the best care possible. We were kept up-to-date with daily phone calls, and although we weren't able to enter the facility, we were allowed to visit him at his window. We'd like to express our utmost appreciation to Amanda, Sara, Brandon, Vonn, Eric, and Ryan, as well as all the other individuals whose names we don't know but who still contributed to making this experience as easy as possible for our family. A big thank you to St. Anns and its wonderful staff and healthcare professionals!more ...hide ...
