This is a great spot. Don't be deceived by the few complaints. I have been living here since the BFL opened and the Administrative Staff do their best to benefit the tenants, even if they are not always appreciated. You can't make everyone happy... Barrier Free Living's goal is to accompany the tenants on their road to independent living. The building is tidied every day, unlike in the neighboring Projects. Safety is a priority with staff available at all times. The resident aids screen all visitors who can only enter with valid ID. During business hours, there are social services which offer general assistance, referrals and suggestions. BFL regularly arranges activities for the tenants, giving away presents for families and children. They also offer gifts, gift cards and prizes to all tenants. With the occasional help of volunteer tenants, they have planned trips and special events for major holidays. You won't find such facilities in the projects or a shelter, where many of us used to live previously.... BFL supports victims of domestic violence, veterans, as well as those who are physically or mentally challenged. The old saying still applies: "you can lead a horse to water but can't make them drink." Ultimately, it is up to me to fix my life, which requires me to do my part and take advantage of the help and tools given if I want to be successful. more ... hide ...
