I'm very pleased with the excellent care he and all the other occupants are given by the personnel, the superb life enrichment program that the facility provides and the emotional backing I have received from the staff and management. I've never seen any of the claimed behaviors from Christopher (who was there for one day) or Shayla and Ari in my numerous visits. On the contrary, I observe the staff going out of their way to satisfy the needs of each individual and being incredibly tolerant and respectful to those living with this horrible condition. I'm thankful that I was told about Emerson House by a friend some time ago and that they agreed to take my husband in after I was unable to care for him at home. Being part of the Emerson House community is making this hard end to our long-term marriage of fifty-two years easier. I hope that the day will come when memory-care facilities are no longer necessary, however until then, I would highly suggest Emerson House Portland to any family seeking a warm and caring environment for a loved one affected by dementia. more ... hide ...

Every time I visit Emerson House, my grandpa's residence, I feel like I'm part of the family. As an LGBTQ+ individual, I was worried when I read the appalling review below, so I and some family members went to Emerson House and had a long dialogue with the management about Mr. Crawford's allegations. It turns out that this negative review is just a former employee's attempt to blacken the name of a wonderful community. It's very annoying (especially for someone with a beloved one who must live in a memory care home) how someone would lie and try to harm the standing of a place that assists people like my grandpa. When I, my mom and uncle were searching for a place for my grandpa, we searched the internet for all the knowledge we could find about every location we looked at. When people who didn't get their way about something go and write something that amounts to libel like that, it makes it more difficult for the family of someone who could really benefit from the care provided at a place like Emerson House to get a good first impression and take the extremely hard first step of actually visiting a place for their loved one. Shame on you, Mr. Crawford. more ... hide ...
