A few years ago, Dominion acquired it and obliged the inhabitants to sign an amendment stipulating that rent could be raised at any time during the lease at their own discretion. If the residents did not sign the agreement, their leases would not be renewed. The raise was usually between $30 and $70. At the start of the year, a different company took over and I renewed my lease in May. To my surprise, I was charged a $60 increase in July for August, as the firm chose not to require new tenants to sign the amendment - only the existing ones. I was left with no other choice but to break my lease and move. Being a single mother, this was a challenge to pay the steady increases. Also, the apartment was very outdated and hadn't been refurbished since I initially moved in - the carpeting was unchanged and the air conditioner was not functioning properly, resulting in a $250 electricity bill, the highest I ever had during my years of living there. It was disheartening to witness other units being renovated after every move out, while mine remained unchanged. The community comprises of elderly and single parents, and it is sorrowful that greedy proprietors make it difficult for us to pay the increases, therefore forcing us to relocate. Every time I call, either during or after business hours, no one answers and I never receive a call back. Every time I call, either during or after business hours, no one answers and I never receive a call back. I've even sent an email to corporate but still, there's been no response. I have several maintenance issues that have yet to be resolved. The white laminate tile, which looks like something you would find in a school cafeteria, is disgusting and no matter how much I clean it, it still looks dirty. Additionally, the AC units are so old that they are constantly running during the summer, resulting in a higher electricity bill. Lastly, even though they do state mandated inspections every 6 months, they don't actually fix the issues. If I weren't a single parent and could afford to live somewhere else, I would be out of here in a heartbeat. more ... hide ...
