To make matters worse, our truck was deteriorating. The air ducts were never cleaned, so we both became ill there. There was a strong smell of urine. The manager was never there and they wouldn't repair anything. When our heater stopped working, they did fix it. However, when I told the manager that I smelled a burning odor when it was turned on, she said it was normal. I had never experienced that before in any other place I had lived, so I didn't believe that it was normal. We started to see major cracks in the ceilings and walls, most of which were covered up with paint. There were also things breaking in the upstairs bathroom. The refrigerator was dented and leaking, and there was burned-on food and grime under the stove and burners. We later discovered that the property owner was making the outside look good in order to raise the property value, as it had gone up over a thousand in a year. It was all a scam. Not to mention the harassment we received. We were then evicted, and without a job, family or friends to stay with, we have been living on the streets since March.
