I recently applied for a maintenance job and was asked to take a test covering electrical, plumbing, drywall, carpentry, landscaping, lawn care, appliance repair, HVAC and tool knowledge. Although I have a few years of bI recently applied for a maintenance job and was asked to take a test covering electrical, plumbing, drywall, carpentry, landscaping, lawn care, appliance repair, HVAC and tool knowledge. Although I have a few years of building maintenance and remodeling experience, I was unable to answer two of the almost fifty questions on the test, causing me to fail it. I was confused as to why the job posting claimed that experience wasn't necessary when the interview process seemed to indicate otherwise. Additionally, the advertised pay of $11-14 an hour is far too low for someone with experience in all these fields. So, I called their main office to ask about the discrepancy between the job posting and the interview, but the person I spoke with said that there was nothing he could do and hung up on me. After reading their employee reviews, it is becoming clear why they are having difficulty finding reliable employees. I am in no way trying to criticize this place, as it is well-maintained and the lady I spoke with was polite. I simply felt that the interview process was unfair and misguided.more ...hide ...
