I spoke with Judy, and she said it was first come, first served, so I took a break from work to get a cashier's check for the deposit and application fee. I was then told to wait three days for the application, which I received on a Friday and had to complete by Monday. On the way, we drove passed the apartment and saw the family of a deceased tenant moving out. They offered to let us take a look at the one bedroom, even though they didn't have one to show us. The man had been living in deplorable conditions; he was a smoker, and it seemed like no one visited him often. His apartment was incredibly dirty, looking like a crime scene. The carpet in the bathroom was black with mold, the walls were covered in cigarette smoke, and the vents and ceiling fans were caked with a five inch layer of dust and smoke. It was shocking that no one had done a wellness check on him or the apartment in the nine years he had been living there. The staff was very angry with me because I had seen the apartment before they had a chance to clean it, so they rejected my mother's application. I had wanted to move her to a closer complex, so she would be closer to us. I was not aware of the situation I was walking into, and wish the staff more ... hide ...
