I hope this review is seen by as many people as possible before deciding to rent with this specific complex. This complex is listed as one that houses the elderly and disabled. This being said, you would then almost imme diately assume that would mean that the individuals working at this complex would be geared toward serving this population to the best of their ability with a form of empathy and compassion usually seen in people working closely with said population. This could unfortunately not be further form the truth. I am a counselor and case manager working here in Buffalo. One of my clients is housed at this specific complex and has lived there for quite some time. My company had recently moved locations and my client , not being able enough to walk from the bus stop to our building, was awaiting approval for Paratransit. My client had been sick the week prior to the move, leaving him unable to come to program to touch base on how he would get too and from the new location while awaiting his transportation approval. He is without a phone for reasons listed later in this review and therefore was unable to contact us and vice versa. My client took it upon himself to go down to the main office and request help with making a phone call too me to let me know he was up and could be picked up and brought to program. My client is a very elderly, hearing impaired, mentally ill man, with barely any family who was simply asking for help with a call and had all of the contact information ready for whoever was working in the office that day. They ended up refusing to help him and turned him away, leaving him unable to contact us and unable to arrive to program where treatment services are provided for him. It is also fair to mention that they had refused to relay a message to him for me even a day prior to him going down to the office himself. On my initial call to the complex, the assistant to the property manager stated she was \"too busy\" to deliver a message of any kind throughout the entirety of her day and refused to do so, given the situation and my clients health/status. I was then told by the property manager that \"they are not responsible to make calls for their residents\" and that if they did it for him that they would have to \"do it for the rest of the residents\". This request was not anything major and would have only been a one time thing. My client just needed help making a phone call. The fact that nobody in that office had the compassion and understanding to help him is appalling, since they are in many ways a primary resource for these residents while living at this complex. They werent asked to change a diaper, they werent asked to distribute medication, they werent asked to drive him to program; they were simply asked to help him make a call out to an agency he depends on for services. The lack of humanity and care in this buildings office is disgraceful. Before allowing loved ones to move in here, and before moving in yourself, know that the workers here will not go above and beyond for you and your loved one if it doesnt fall perfectly into their job description. This was never an issue of \"responsibility\", it was an issue of human decency; which they astoundingly failed to uphold. I will not allow this building to be an option when case managing for my clients in relation to housing and will notify the entirety of my company as well as other social service providers in the area to stay clear as well. more ... hide ...
