Pest problems, like roaches in my apartment and others, exist. There is only one dumpster per building, so if it's not emptied regularly, it quickly becomes full. Maintenance can be hit-or-miss because we have difficulty keeping staff. The building janitor is diligent, but may make visitors feel uncomfortable with her security tactics, such as staring and following them. The first year here was great, but it has been downhill since then. The premises are now accessible to anyone and my car has been tampered with and recently stolen, plus packages have been taken from outside my door. There are cameras around the building, but when needed, we're told they're not operational. Lastly, there is no place for children to play or for residents to barbecue or socialize. I'm finally looking to move, but with some stability and minor tweaks, Stonegate could be a five-star place. more ... hide ...

The apartment I stayed in was roomy, had walk-in closets, many windows, and was spotless upon move-in. This residence is situated on Illinois Street, which is a one-way and can be noisy if an ambulance or police car siren passes by. Worry not about transportation -- just take one street over and the bus will come in every twenty minutes. If you don't take public transportation, cabs are always available five minutes away. Lana, the apartment manager, is very friendly and can help with any problems you may have. The downside, however, is parking -- it can be a nightmare. You may be lucky to get a spot on the street or you may have to park your car a few blocks away. The apartment complex has almost no amenities -- no pool, lift, or fitness area. The main issue I had was the elevator. Never get an apartment off the ground floor, as carrying groceries and supplies up four flights of stairs can be exhausting. All in all, if you're on a budget and need decent lodging without all the extra trimmings that will increase your rent, this is the place for you.
