It sounds great that you get to keep 30% of your income, but they are experts at taking away your hard earned money. My suggestion is that you only stay here if you never plan on working. Anything you make, they will usually take 80%. It is not wise to ask family members for help in paying rent because LaSalle Park Homes will count any of their income as yours. Even if you only have SSI, they will take 80%. Child support is no different; they take 80% of that too. It was difficult for me to leave because there were no utility bills, such as gas, electric, or water. As soon as I began working, they increased my rent to around $500. When my youngest started to get disability payments, the rent went up to $700. This is supposedly a "low income property", but they are really just thieves. I had to vacate the premises by the fifth or sixth of the month, yet they still wanted me to pay the full month's rent. I left the home in splendid condition, yet I never received my security deposit back, which was regulation.
