I submitted a copy of his doctor's letter but it apparently wasn't sufficient and Management just discriminated against me and my son for a handicapped unit. I believe Simmon should be dismissed. Eight months ago, my son had a full heart transplant. I submitted a copy of his doctor's letter but it apparently wasn't sufficient and they won't assign the unit until we get a letter with the physician's opinion. Can't we be given three to five business days to provide the papers? The letter provided facts, so why should his opinion matter? He mentioned he understands all about heart transplants, yet he still discriminated us. Simmon is not the one who has the last word, is it the supervisor above him? We were just informed on Friday that we need a reasonable accommodation letter, which could take up to three business days. I didn't even have the opportunity to submit my doctor's letter. The city funded the apartment complex, yet we don't qualify for the income requirements to rent a new unit after my son inspected the new apartment and we completed the applications. I never had to submit a letter to validate my disability or my son's to anyone but my housing case managers. This was asked beyond the scope and infringed our right to medical privacy and the fact that we are black just proves that people are judging us. I want a lawyer to sue Simmon and an apology from Winn Management. People in the community are already distressed and emotionally distressed.
