It is unacceptable that elderly people on fixed incomes should have to suffer rent increases of more than $100, not to mention the expenses associated with having to move. Every day, somebody else is forced to leave. There's no use responding to this with an explanation; a $100 rise is understandable, but not anything higher. I sincerely hope that someone will take notice of this. They are taking advantage of the elderly in this neighbourhood. They've remodeled the cottages, raised the rent by $250-300 per month and then told the seniors they have to move to a unit that doesn't even match the standards of their previous one. Furthermore, they are offering only up to $500 to cover moving expenses with some seniors getting as little as $300. Those on fixed incomes can't cope with such an increase. They have been intimidated into either accepting the new place or leaving.
