We rushed to the office on Monday morning, when she was supposed to move in (already having given up her old residence to someone else, and packed up her belongings), only to find out that they would get back to us at some point that day. When we called them on Tuesday, we were denied because they wanted proof that my stepfather would never live in the apartment, as this would put my mom over the income limit. However, this was impossible as he resides in Belgium and has never been to the US and never will. To make matters worse, they knew of this prior to the move-in date and chose to tell us the day after. Now my mom is stuck on a couch until we can find her a new place. It's heartbreaking.
