This place is for seniors 55+including disabled seniors. You are allowed to keep a small dog and all the grounds are kept very nice. You can actually walk to restaurants and grocery stores and there are concerts on the beach in the summer. There are many activities and social events in the building if you are interested in meeting other residents. When they say the staff always greets you and knows your name im not sure who they are talking about because there were only less than 10 members that were employees.when i lived there. Most of us were never sure what the manager did and i never saw the rest of management and in general could have been more responsive. So expect to always follow-up They kept telling us they care but it didnt always feel that way. especially if you needed something. (It would be ideal if you had someone who can visit and even help fix things occasionally.) Maintenance is hit or miss and the head of maintenance seemed burned out and wasnt accountable to anyone. The workers kept changing and seemed a little lazy -- the good ones didnt stay. It could be loud at times when you can hear power tools and didnt know where or why. Would I recommend this place? Its probably the nicest low income place for seniors at the beach.(on the beach actually) or anywhere in Jacksonville and most residents seem happy. i always felt safe which is not always the case with HUD properties. You should apply ASAP because it could be years before you are called and you can always turn it down if you find another place. I recommend you call and ask the manager to send an app and floor plans. You probably wont be able to see an apt because they are usually full. -- get on the wait list ASAP and expect to wait a few years. Good luck!more ...hide ...
