I had a great time living at Elm Street Plaza for three years and I'd highly recommend it. Its location is unbeatable, within walking distance of countless entertainment spots, eateries and Lake Michigan. It's also near the Red Line and Lake Shore Drive, thus it's easy to reach other districts in the city. The staff at the door and management are always cordial, the communal areas are kept tidy and there's a nice outdoor area with a pool. My flat had staggering sights of the city and I rarely heard my neighbours (which is what you'd wish for when living in a high-rise). The administration did a great job informing us of whatever problems or activities that were occurring in the building. The major drawbacks, which I already knew before moving in, are the lack of central air conditioning and in-apartment washer/dryer. The temperature is kept high for too many weeks at the beginning of summer, causing us to swelter in our dwellings until they turn on the A/C. Doing the laundry on the ground floor is an ordeal as there are usually several washing machines and dryers out of order, you have to pay for laundry and you'll have to wait for several elevators, a small issue that leads to another: the building has only three lifts and you will almost always have to wait for one. more ... hide ...

Additionally, due to city ordinances, the AC will not be turned on until June 1st despite it being 87 degrees outside right now. Furthermore, the WiFi service is constantly going out and there is no option to switch providers; making working from home difficult at times. Finally, when communicating with management they are not always very helpful in resolving issues. We chose to renew our lease although rent increased by $150/mo but we wish it would be a better place to live for that price.*Update: After many complaints from residents about high temperatures in units the office switched to AC one day after this review was written.* more ... hide ...

No need to address concerns as you have given me 6 months of unnecessary grief after losing my job in December when I applied for an apartment there on December 28 I have withdrawn applications at apartments before and never in my life had I had to g No need to address concerns as you have given me 6 months of unnecessary grief after losing my job in December when I applied for an apartment there on December 28 I have withdrawn applications at apartments before and never in my life had I had to go through the circles this establishment and every one associated with it Central Billing Agency has put me through for 6 months Not only did it take 6 months check finally arrived July 1 to get my admin fee back from withdrawing the application the same day I applied I was shorted 65 And I have emails to prove it DO NOT LIVE HERE I didnt even end up living here and they have been so frustrating to deal with that I cannot even imagine living here more ... hide ...
