The first two floors are allocated for visitors with hospital-related business, and each suite is nicely appointed with a bathroom equipped for wheelchair access, a kitchenette with dishes and utensils should you wish to dine in (a Whole Foods Store is nearby, offering a delightful hot or cold buffet/takeout selection; they open at 7:00 AM, making it a great spot for a hearty breakfast prior to going to MGH), two chairs and a table, beds as needed, television, landline telephone service, extra bedding and pillows, and 24 hour security in the lobby (which is decorated in a striking turn-of-the-century Boston style!). There are a variety of nice restaurants in the area, ranging in price. (Moreover, MGH has an extensive and varied cafeteria; it is quite a pleasure to eat there!). It is suggested that one call ahead to make sure there is space available, as it tends to get booked up quickly. When dealing with hospital visits, it is comforting to know there is a secure place to stay in the vicinity. A single friend who stayed there said the police were more than willing to escort her from MGH to the door of the Beacon House at night and made sure she got in safely. During my sons illness with cancer he was treated at MassGeneral and we stayed at the Beacon House several times My son was only 29 and most people there were older folks and my three daughters and myself were there with him for around six weeks on o During my sons illness with cancer he was treated at MassGeneral and we stayed at the Beacon House several times My son was only 29 and most people there were older folks and my three daughters and myself were there with him for around six weeks on our final stay before he passed on as we lived two hours away and his medical team wanted him close by The woman who had her office on site there I believe her name was Sandra was exceptionally compassionate and did everything within her power to help us feel at home It truly was a gift for us to have the space two rooms with four beds as well as one room in the annex for my older daughter during those last weeks with my son It is a beautiful building with a very comfortable feel to it My family is extremely grateful to the Beacon House snd MGH more ... hide ...

My family loved the Beacon House it was very close walking distance to Mass General Hospital We stayed there about a month until my mother died at Mass General Hospital They were very caring and respectful and because my mom was in ICU they gave the My family loved the Beacon House it was very close walking distance to Mass General Hospital We stayed there about a month until my mother died at Mass General Hospital They were very caring and respectful and because my mom was in ICU they gave the room to us for half price which was so wonderful considering what we were already going through We had the only room with the bathroom and shower in it which gave us much needed privacy Sometimes you just have to cry in private It also had two single beds in it and a cot in the closet with extra blankets It had a community full kitchen in it as well as a stove and oven and refrigerator so we could get up together in the morning and regroup together at the community kitchen table having complimentary coffee and breakfast before the short walk to the hospital to see my mother I cannot say enough good things about Beacon House to give it the justice it so deserves Thank you so much for your help and support during the sad time in our lives more ... hide ...
