The Villa Michelangelo in Boston's North End is not a nursing home, but rather an apartment complex that was once a school. By offering low-income housing for seniors, it is evident that "you get what you pay for". By offering low-income housing for seniors, it is evident that "you get what you pay for". The complex has central A/C in the hallways during summer months, however, the annex does not and can become very stuffy. Furthermore, the annex is not well insulated from noise, meaning that all sounds from toilet flushes, footsteps, loud voices and even creaking furniture can be heard. In addition, due to the mismanagement of EBCDE and Metro Management, the roof leaked for 8 years. A majority of the residents are from the North End, and therefore possess a certain code of behavior and lack of ethics. As a consequence, outsiders may be ostracized, persecuted, slandered, libeled, threatened and physically harmed. Management takes no action to protect residents, instead telling them to "call the police" if they have a problem. They also misuse funds by buying new televisions and planters, yet will not replace worn out carpeting or cracked formica. Furthermore, residents must pay for any burnt out lightbulbs, regardless if they were there before moving in. All in all, Villa Michelangelo and any property managed by EBCDC and/or Metro Management should not be recommended as they are negligent, incompetent and unresponsive to the needs of seniors and minorities. more ... hide ...
