They select who to assist and implement regulations. They provide clients with TV dinner-style dishes that have been delivered at 7 a.m. and have been left out the whole day. They cram up to 6 dishes into the microwave at once and don't check if it's cooked properly, offering it to individuals who also feed it to their children since they do not have SNAP benefits. They give immigrants the initial picks over contributions and whatever is left over they give to American citizens. Most of them do not have suitable beds or fridges for people to store food. I have been in prison before and I still prefer the shelter I am in. The residential aides are impolite to us when they do not understand our frustration. They talk to us as if being in a shelter was a selection. The clients are no better, leaving bags of trash on staircases and food in hallways. There are no machines for ice or beverages besides what you can purchase for yourself. The security guards are discourteous because we usually speak Spanish. It's terrible because I simply want to move into an apartment with my kids and start anew. This shelter always smells like pot and spoiled food. I can't order anything special for my children.
