If you are looking for a small facility in a semi-rural area, then youve found what you are looking for.I only give The Oaks a four-star rating because to me a five-star rating is a perfect 100% and there are few places that rate that. That being said, The Oaks is darn near there.Its a small (37 unit) facility so you wont be lost in a crowd here. You will truly be a member of a community and not just part of the herd.The staff truly care for the residents like family. It is more than just a paycheck to them. Most of the staff have been here for 10-15 years, as opposed to a lot of facilities with a high turnover rate due to poor pay and bad working conditions.The Oaks is located in a small town of only 16,000 people, but that doesnt mean that you cant get what you are used to back in the big-city. Yes, there is a Walmart and an Applebees and a McDonalds here, just like at home. If you really cant get what you want here, Eau Clare is only about 30 miles away.The Oaks only provides a mid-day meal, but its hearty and filling. It might not be overly fancy, but itll keep you from starving, even if you hate to cook! Its a lot cheaper to provide your own breakfast and evening snack than depending on a central kitchen to provide them for you. Youll have more choice as to what, and when. you eat too.The Oaks is located only about seven blocks from U of W - Stout University, so auditing classes (for free!) is a real option for some of us.You dont necessarily need a car to get around town here. You can get around town on just a bicycle, if you are so inclined.There are about a mile of private walking trails available if you dont want to walk the quiet streets of Menominee. There are private garden plots available for those of you that like to grow your own flowers or veggies.The Oaks is listed as being an \"Adult Living\" facility and it is truly that. In a recent visit, not one person using a walker or in a wheelchair was seen. This is as opposed to some places which are barely above the Assisted Living or Memory Care level of existence. The resident here are actually active independent adults, not some wasted shell, all but needing spoon-feeding. You want someone to go hunting or fishing or golfing with? You can probably find a friend to go with you here.The Oaks is continuing to repair and upgrade their campus, so when you come to live here you can expect fresh paint and carpet of course, but high-speed internet access is soon to be available. Give The Oaks a visit and I think that youll be pleasantly surprised. more ... hide ...

They just want the application fees. I paid for two application $40 and didnt get a responds back for almost a month. I even reached out to her the next day after my showing and she replied back I should fill out an application but I already did ??? Something is off about this place. After emailing and getting no responds. I finally get in contact with Renee and she says I was denied because of credit ? But I have a 2018 Jeep that I was approved for and have had for almost 6 months now so I think this place is a joke. Save your money on the applications. We viewed a dirty apartment also but In such a rush to move we would have done the cleaning. more ... hide ...
