Im 56 and my husband Paul a veteran is 76 Were both retired so to speak Im on SSDI and hes on SSI Our combine monthly income is #*#*# hidden# Its only the two of us and we are hoping this is the last time we have to move We have one friend no family and a van that doesnt work so needless to say moving is difficult for us Were both disabled bad back and knees so anything with stairs is a no go for us we need something that is ground floor House Duplex or fourplex is fine as long as it is within our voucher limit #*#*# hidden# were working on getting that raised Were specifically looking for something in Chalmette but if there isnt anything available Meraux Arabi Metairie or Kenner is fine We are looking for a two bedroom as we came out of a three bedroom home My husband has a 1992 white Ford E250 that is inoperable at the moment but hes having it worked on A place with a small yard would be preferable but not necessary as we have a small service dog with documentation as such shes a nine year old 13 pound Yorkshire Terrier friendly housebroken and has never destroyed anything Shes not aggressive shes never bitten anyone if anything shes more likely to lick you half to death

As my husband is a veteran we obtained our section 8 voucher through the HUDVASH program through the Veterans Administration As of September #*#*# hidden# we will have been on the program for four years The reason we are having to move and quickly is due to negligence on the property managers part The roof in our apartment has been leaking since November of 2022 and she failed to repair it When the inspector came out in June the inspection failed An hour later the property manager sent us a notice to vacate via email We need a place to move into by September 1st or were going to be on the street Prior to that we resided in New Orleans and moved by choice We were in a duplex and the property manager placed drug addicts in the unit next to us which truly made life unbearable Due to that horrific experience we stay to ourselves Other than that weve paid all utilities and rent on time we have no credit cards no debt If we cant afford it we dont need it Uncertain as to our credit scores as we havent checked it in several years
