When we entered the premises, people were gathered around the fireplace conversing. As we moved forward, people approached us to tell us about the Victory Center. We were astonished by the warm hospitality, something we hadn't experienced at any of the other places we'd visited. The staff was incredible and did everything they could to help my friend move quickly and smoothly. She was in a hurry to relocate from her current home and the staff saved her from losing her possessions. I thanked them and they said they take care of their seniors. And, indeed, since her move, my friend has been much happier and healthier. There was a Christmas party with a band and a singer; everyone was singing and dancing. Her son was there and I heard him talking to his sister on the phone, saying: "Have you ever seen Mom dance? Me neither, but she is!" This made me tear up. I told my friend that I'd be moving to the Victory Center in the next year or so - it's such a cheerful and wonderful place. I can't say enough about Christina and Barb, who were both loving and caring. We felt so lucky to have met them.more ...hide ...

We toured Victory Centre of Riverwoods with my parents prior to the pandemic (along with three other facilities) and then swiftly relocated them in April 2020, when I was 8 months pregnant and Covid was at its peak. The entire team (Dorothy, Barb, Nancy, Mercedes, Jenny, Shannon and the aides/maintenance staff) are beyond incredible. They are generous and compassionate towards both their residents and family members. One of the places we visited advised us that Victory Centre would be perfect for my parents since their rooms were larger and they'd receive far more personal care due to it being a smaller facility (which is true!). Barb has been with VC for over 8-9 years - she's amazing! My folks didn't need the amenities; they needed people who knew them by name. Sadly, my mom passed away four weeks after my son's birth in July 2020 - only 3 months after moving in - yet the team showed such kindness during this hard time to help Dad transition into his new home during a pandemic...while also keeping an eye on him through our loss. As a healthcare administrator myself I can attest to how hard this group is working while doing everything possible to keep Dad safe. Though not all has been perfect, when I address something it's addressed right away. With businesses being understaffed right now it's important to remember family should be involved too so advocating for your loved one is necessary - expect itmore ...hide ...

It was a pleasure assisting them. The pandemic caused me to no longer be able to do my job, so I spoke to the management and they offered a position that would help me in my situation. Although it isn't the ideal place, the employees gave it their all. A couple of months have passed since I left, but I still drop in to say hello! It's true that they can be short-staffed, but that occurs in many places and is not an indication of the quality of the community. In fact, the staff here did an admirable job of keeping their residents and workers safe during the pandemic. I recently saw a review that claimed it was a horrible place with bad management, but the individual who wrote it was from housekeeping, whom I saw in the break room more than cleaning the apartments. It's surprising they weren't let go sooner. People should reflect on their own actions before criticizing others. I would like to express my gratitude to the management at Victory Centre. I was there and I saw the hard work that was done, and I'm thankful for the help they provided me.more ...hide ...

Before the pandemic, we visited Victory Centre of Riverwoods with our parents along with three other facilities. Then, when I was 8 months pregnant with our first child, we quickly moved mom and dad in during April 2020 - right when Covid hit its peak. The entire team there is incredible; selfless, caring and truly dedicated to their residents and families. We were told that Victory Centre would be the best place for my parents since their rooms are bigger and they'd get more personalized care since it's a smaller facility (which turned out to be true!). Barb has been working there for over 8-9 years now - she's absolutely amazing! Mom passed away 4 weeks after my son was born in July 2020, 3 months after moving into VC. During that difficult time, the team was so kind and understanding towards my dad as he transitioned to his new home amidst a pandemic as well as grieved for my mom.
I'm an administrator in healthcare so I know how hard this team is working to keep everyone safe during these times. Any issues I've brought up have been addressed immediately - don't assume family members can't be involved either; being an advocate helps immensely and should be expected of them! If you're considering VC of Riverwoods for your loved one(s), I can wholeheartedly recommend them without reservation. Please show kindness towards the staff there and give them all the appreciation they deserve!more ...hide ...
