During his stay, he received exemplary care from the staff, which is why I chose to move my mother to the Harbor unit when she needed more help due to her Alzheimer's progressing. Unfortunately, the experience was drastically different for her and she passed away three months after being relocated there in April 2020. Possibly due to the Covid pandemic, personnel seemed scarce and I noticed it especially during the night shift. On a few occasions I was there to stay with her overnight and discovered that somebody had put her back into bed without informing anyone, not even the nurse, after she had fallen out. The next day the medical personnel found her in her bed, with a broken hip in a lot of distress. The doctor at Salem Hospital informed me that she couldn't have possibly gotten back into bed due to the intensity of the fracture. My poor mother had to suffer agony for hours before anyone checked on her. I requested an inquiry from the Harbor and Putnam directors, but they never answered me and both left their posts shortly after. I have requested her medical records, but six weeks later I am still waiting for them. If you value your loved ones, please do not choose Putnam Farm at Danvers, Benchmark Living.more ...hide ...

The care he received then was truly remarkable! The employees were amazing and I was a fan of the entire facility, which is why I shifted my mom from the assisted living area to the Harbor unit when she needed more support due to her progressing Alzheimers. Unfortunately, it was a totally different ordeal for the worse and she died three months after her relocation in April 2020. Possibly due to Covid, the staff seemed to be diminished. During the day, there were one or two aides who were excellent, but at night it was dreadful. I am aware of this because I had the opportunity to stay with her overnight a few times in July because she had fallen out of her bed. No one informed me, and somebody put her back in bed without notifying anyone - not even the nurse. The day personnel found her the next morning in her bed, with a broken hip and a lot of pain. The surgeon at Salem Hospital told me it was impossible for her to have climbed back into bed on her own due to the severity of the hip fracture. My unfortunate mom had to suffer in pain for hours and nobody examined her until the morning. I asked for an investigation from the director of Harbor and the director of Putnam, yet they never responded to me with any response, and both of them eventually resigned from their positions shortly after.
