The personnel at Hamel Mills were the only people to get back to us rapidly and answer all of our queries. If you are fine with the commuting lifestyle, Hamel Lofts is a great spot. The train station is very close, making it straightforward to jump on and off. Downtown is expanding and a riverside walk is in the works (the city said it would be completed in a year). It is incredibly pet-friendly. All the tenants are very amiable. Make sure to get a unit in the solid building. The other buildings have wooden beams, so you can hear and smell everything. The staff are very kind and approachable. If you need something, they are happy to support and easy to talk to. Just make sure to stay on top of the issue as they can get busy and your request could slip through the cracks, taking a long time to finish. Parking is convenient, garbage disposal is simple, paying rent is easy, getting groceries up can be a challenge- make sure to get a trolley to assist. The washer and dryers are in the units- they are on the small side, so don't cram them. While living there, we found an excellent dog walker. Since then, we have moved to be nearer to the workplace and childcare facility but we still miss the staff and acquaintances we made at the lofts.more ...hide ...

The website indicated that the rent for a one bedroom apartment was $1,014, so I called to inquire about renting one. However, the person I spoke with said the starting rent was actually $1,500. This was an act of robbery on the highway! The photographs don't even look that attractive for the rent to be so expensive. If you are willing to pay that amount, I suggest renting at Tuscan Village since it is much nicer and has more amenities. The person I talked to acted like he had no idea what I was talking about and said he would have to contact the person in charge. I have been monitoring this apartment for a few months now and the past four months the rent was listed as $1,014 on various websites such as apartment.com, apartmentguide.com, Trulia, and Zillow. They need to update the information as soon as possible so people like me don't get their hopes up. I thought I had finally found something affordable. I do not recommend this place due to their FALSE advertisement. It is best to look somewhere else.more ...hide ...
