It's been seven months since I arrived, and at the beginning I heard gunshots and saw someone being taken away by an ambulance. Sadly, this past weekend bullets struck my window and passed through the front bedroom wall, but thankfully none of my children were hurt.
This is a low-income housing complex, so I'm not expecting anything luxurious. However, neighborhoods become what the people living in them make them. If they want to improve, they can do better. The trash that people have been leaving out in the grass is appalling. There are large dumpsters provided in the parking lot for people to get rid of their rubbish, but instead they discard it elsewhere.
The office staff are professional and kind. As I said before, if people want better, they need to work towards it. It will require the residents and office staff to work together to get this place in better condition. Just because it's low-income doesn't mean the living standards have to be low.
I have been in areas with gunfire before, and it can happen anywhere. People shouldn't have to live in fear or in an unkempt environment.more ...hide ...

I informed them that I wanted to move, so I submitted my 60-day notice. On July 24th, I went back to them and informed them I'd changed my mind and paid the rent for August. The lady took my money and then told me I still had to move, as they had already rented out my apartment. I couldn't understand how they could rent out someone's house while they were still living in it. To make matters worse, she threatened to take me to court and have my voucher taken away if I didn't leave. Ms Angie kept pressuring me to move, after I'd said I wasn't going to. Then, she called the utility companies and had my power and hot water forcibly cut off, which is illegal, especially during a pandemic. I had no choice but to leave the property of my own accord, in order to avoid an eviction on my record. I didn't know until August 3rd that the precedent had signed the bill. I've contacted an attorney and the CDC, and will also be contacting the owners of the property and whoever else I can think of. I'm filing a lawsuit, as what Ms Angie did was wrong and illegal, and the matter is being looked into.more ...hide ...
