Leaks, mold, cracks, vermin, bugs, flies, and other violations of housing code were present. Maintenance workers entered my home without my consent or knowledge, and cut a 4x4 square hole in the kitchen ceiling without properly safeguarding my belongings from harm. Dust and debris were everywhere, and no plastic protection was used around the area of work. In reality, the apartment was never in a condition for my family and I to move in from the start. Cabinets, toilet, refrigerator, and air conditioning/heating units were refurbished in July 2011, and shortly after we moved in, the 'earthquake' of summer 2011 struck our building. My floor and ceiling moved in opposite directions, making a loud, clashing sound. At that point, I started to observe all the structural damages in my apartment and the entire building, and then the water leaks began. Also, there have been instances of targeted theft, and one doorman has been known to be quite racist--calling the police on people of color quickly. Prospective tenants, be warned!more ...hide ...
