Edit Rental Inquiry Hello, I just want to start off by saying that I am disgusted with our city and the way in which people live. It�s around 1:00 AM, I�m up because I�m worrying myself sick about what will happen to my family tomorrow. I have 2 beautiful daughters. They are 6 & 2. One of which just started school this year, and got off to a rough start, but is really doing great now, and loves it. She had never been in any type of day care or anything. Just always with mom and dad. We went through some tough times together, we were pretty much homeless for a year and a half, or maybe more. We lived in our tent. Where ever we could.. Then finally I got an interview. FANTASTIC!! I thought. That went well. All except for I didn�t have any ID or social security card. My car had been stolen a couple of years prior, with my wallet inside. Well you have to have ID to get ID. Luckily they were willing to work with me, I got everything taken care of within the first month of working. Then we started staying in a motel, which was costing me around 300$ a week. Maybe more. But all 4 of us stuff into one room. We stayed there months, until I got income taxes back. Then we found an apartment. I didn't have any rental history as this was my first time living out in the real world. I had always lived with family. We liked the place and it was just under a mile from my job. GREAT!! We moved in as quick as they would let us. We were so happy to finally have our own space and a place to call home. A week after moving in we had our 2year olds 1ST birthday. Now I�m the only one with income, their daddy has a full time job of staying home and taking care of these two kiddos. Only it doesn�t pay well. (usually I can�t afford much, but I try to take them out to eat every other week or so) and for everyone wondering why he doesn�t work too. I work all shifts, crazy hours. It just wouldn�t work with my schedule. Fast forward a couple of months. Now I�m paying rent, mostly on time, if it�s late I pay crazy late fees, (happily) and usually have it paid within the first two weeks of the month. So there�s rent, phone bill, car insurance, (on both our cars) light bill, and diapers and wipes! I consider this a bill! Now I started my job in September, we were cut off of our government assistance SNAP 3 months later ( while we still lived in the motel). Had tried to reapply a few times with no avail. So gave up. Now I�m also footing a grocery bill, couple hundred every two or three weeks. But I�m still managing to barley make it by. We were left with nothing each week, but hey, we were happy to have a roof over our heads, food to eat, and a warm(or cool) place to lay down at night. Fast forward a couple of more. Months, I started having God awful pains one day to the point I went to the hospital, they kept me and did an emergency surgery! This is September 2022. OH NO!! I am already just barley making it by, living just under paycheck to paycheck. WHAT AM I GOING TO DO? I ended up missing around 2 weeks of work, had already used up all my sick/vacation pay just here and there throughout the last year. When I had the surgery I owed $600 rent from August, this was the first time I owed rent past the month it was due, now I owe that plus September. Ok a new management company is coming to take over. ( The 3rd while I�ve lived here.) They take down the payment portal end of September. The new management company now says they DO NOT accept ANY partial payments, rent must be paid in full. Or none at all. So here it is November 17th ( well I guess 18th now) and I�m due to evicted today. I ended up getting help from NNH to pay 2300 of my rent. Which left the $650. Plus November. And late fee. A few hundred shy of $2,000 is what I owe now. Although I could have been paying this down, or completely off each week when I was paid, but this rental company DOESN�T accept anything but full payment. So here I am fixing to be evicted, we have no where to go, I won�t be able to rent anywhere after this. And all for what? It�s not like we were bad renters. We never bothered anyone. We aren�t social, we don�t have company. I�ve tried to get help from anywhere and everywhere, I�ve Googled everything related to my situation. I did apply for the COVID rent relief on October 1st. The status of that is still just submitted. Hasn�t been looked at yet. Now I�m worrying myself to death over what is going to happen to us. Right here at Christmas. Some of the coldest nights to come, and I don�t know where we will lay down each night. I don�t know where my daughter will get ready for school each morning. I can tell you it is sickening. Epb is advertising they want to end homelessness to donate to the Chattanooga homeless coalition. Has anyone even called them? Due to staffing shortage they aren�t even in the office and can�t help anyone needing help. I�ve searched around for rentals and DEAR LORD, how does everyone afford these prices? I thought my rent was high, it is, but I can�t find anything even AFFORDABLE, ( that�s in a good area). I�ve tried contacting the new management company numerous times, through email, never a reply, calling, no one is ever in the office. I just wanted to see if there was anything we could work out. So 2 years of paying rent on time. (Mostly) and all we�ve worked hard for, is just pulled right out from under us. And will make it twice as hard for us to find a new place to call home.
