Raw sewage has been pouring out of an outlet in the parking lot for almost 2 weeks, and the only concern to the management is identifying what resident may have caused the plumbing issue. Never mind the disgusting and horribly unsanitary conditions, lets figure out what genius flushes things like diapers down the toilet. The office staff will vary from polite and helpful to completely incompetent and rude depending on the day. The Pools are rarely in proper balance and most often cause skin rashes due to the unbalanced chemicals. The laundry facility is ALWAYS filthy and not once has there been a full working and functioning laundry facility. There are only 8 washers total and when 4 are constantly broke with the other 4 smelling like dog urine this is not a true amenity. The club house is o.k when it is open, this tends to depend on if the office staff unlocks the door to it. The gym is o.k. at best but there is an odor of sweaty sick a** that is intolerable, and has only gotten more pronounced over the past year. The apartments are painted in the cheapest flat paint available and this includes the kitchen and the bathrooms. You can not clean the walls with out making it worse due to the poor quality of paint used. The element that has been leased to in the past few months is indicative of very low socioeconomic class of people, and seemingly \"half way house\" type inhabitants. This is made evident by the display of certain people that do not seem to care or understand that this is an apartment and not a spot out in the country where your noise and actions do not bother your neighbors. The disgusting person that lives upstairs from me, continually coughs and hacks up phlegm and then spits it of the balcony multiple times a day. This along with the raw sewage, filthy laundry conditions makes me very concerned for the public health. I have contacted code compliance regarding the raw sewage. This complex will allow breeds of dogs that most wont and for this reason I remain here for the time being. However I feel that because of this the management company slacks regarding the up keep with the attitude of \"we are the only place most of you can live\" with your choice of animal. Also I have always lived in apartments, and I have NEVER been subjected to an \"inspection\" that this complex conducts. You are made to feel as if you are government funded for housing and subjected to violations of privacy by the staff. This out of all my \"gripes\" is the worst. It is degrading and extremely invasive. If my rent was subsidized and that is what I agreed to under those circumstances then I would have no room to complain. I suppose this is stated in the lease in regards to inspections at the whim of the complex, but none the less it is very disruptive and privacy destroying. Do not lease here if you have ANY other alternative choices, you can get a nice 2bd rm else where with way less issues and a more updated complex for the price of a small 1bd rm here.more ...hide ...

Very helpful and friendlI lived here 3 years during grad school and a year afterward. Great location - I moved outside the city and often wish I was still in this neighborhood. The Oaks had great staff when I was there. Very helpful and friendly. The one bedroom apartments are small and fine for one person, maybe two. There was a good amount of storage for the small apartment. The only negative was that the walls/floors were super thin and I could hear everything the neighbors did...and I mean everything. I suggest getting a top floor apartment here if you can. If you dont trash the apartment, you will get your full deposit back.more ...hide ...
