My first manager here, Donna, was here because she loved the residents, I always felt and it showed. Then she unfortunately passed away. Our next manager left us, after a flood that wiped out 26 units. Long story short, I just want to say that the current manager Telly is a blessing. She is not so rigid that she cannot work with you even though there are people she reports to. She is open minded and flexible, but stern when she needs to be, so I feel safer with the screening of the residents and not allowing bad stuff within our community living space to continue if it does happen. Thats peace of mind for me as I am raising my family here. Also I really wanted to mention the maintenance professional Steven. Hes very upbeat, always smiling and hard at work. He takes care of the grounds first thing in the morning like he lives here too, which he does! Im liking this change and I just felt really grateful today and wanted to say that. Thanks.more ...hide ...

The ladies in the office were all smiles and polite when filling out paperwork, but then it came time to move in.We were told that we needed to have paperwork turned in IMMEDIATELY to reserve an apartment. The dates kept getting pushed back, again new construction, but this went on for months. My mom actually had to move in with us for 3 weeks until it was ready. She had already signed the lease, so the lease is up at her signing date, not her move in date! The ladies in the office refused to do a walk through with her, but emphatically told her (a blind woman!) to write down €œEVERYTHING€ that was wrong or damaged or she would be charged for it. But the ladies wouldn€™t walk through with a blind woman to help her find all the flaws so that she wouldn€™t be charged. In new construction there are many scratches, dents, etc from installation. In this complex, they were rushing to complete construction so there are a lot of scratches on the floors, cabinets and wood. How is a disabled person supposed to find all of this? The ladies literally shrugged and said that she€™d better find the flaws or it would be in her. There are soooo many rules, it€™s like my kids€™ school!! These are adults living her not children. Speaking of... they speak to the residents like children. They talk down to them, their voices and diction are like that of a kindergarten teacher. How demeaning!! They scare the residents by telling them that they€™ll be fined or evicted for doing anything that they deem €œwrong€ or in-accordance with the rules. You are NOT to hang pictures with a small nail, ONLY command strips should be used. You cannot walk on the grass. The dog park should NOT be used as the grass hasn€™t seeded, but don€™t walk your dogs on the grounds. Where are they supposed to let dogs relieve themselves in this €œpet friendly€ complex???There is no smoking on the property. Ok, fine, but there is no smoking area, so the disabled (blind, wheel chair, walker) supposed to go?All of these questions and more were met with (quote) €œThat€™s not our problem.€The interior hallways are like a hospital, there are no pictures hung or carpeting or anything else. It is COMPLETELY BARE, so it not only looks like an institution, but they echo badly. Every time a door shuts, it sounds like thunder-but you€™re supposed to be nearly silent in those hallways. The doors to the elevators close quickly and unexpectedly, so they literally close on you. I€™ve been knocked over by them as have my mother and husband. So, poor little old lady in the walker-tough luck. Horrible! The curbs aren€™t painted so I€™ve seen multiple people trip over them. AGAIN, managers just shrug. I guess they€™ll just shrug when they get sued by someone.Shoddy workmanship on the construction, clearly they had to rush to get opened. This place is a HUGE disappointment. They don€™t take seniors to the grocery store (there are no cabs or mass transit in Dripping Sorings), even though we were told they would shuttle people to the store.I€™ve lived in many apartments, 8 if memory serves, but I€™ve NEVER encountered a complex like this, nor have I ever been treated like a child without rights. The way they speak to people is humiliating and debasing and really borderline abusive. They€™ve even asked the residents to rattle on other residents if they are not minding the rules. The manager unabashedly said, €œSo I can get them.€ Seriously?!?Reconsider before you sign anything here.more ...hide ...
