I am just now writing a review due to Hillside continually sending debt collectors my way for my ultimate payment, though I have already compensated in November 2020. My banking statement and Clickpay both prove the payment. Yet, Hillside persists in claiming I owe money, which has damaged my credit. Seeing as I am writing this, I might as well include that when my fridge stopped working while I was living there, it took them over a week to get in touch regarding a replacement. My A/C died just eight days after the fridge, so I relentlessly called the office to see if they would do anything about it, as I had heard nothing about the fridge (couldn't go in person since it was the height of the pandemic in August 2020). They responded with, "Oh yeah, we already ordered a new fridge. It's on the way." It would have been convenient to inform me of this. As for the A/C, their solution was to install a window unit for a day or two until they could repair the real issue. The problem was, I lived in one of the loft units right on Riverside, and the only windows there were those tall floor-to-ceiling ones that didn't open. Therefore, they left me without a fridge or A/C for days during the summer amid the pandemic. I emphatically suggest not living atmore ...hide ...

Unfortunately, it appears that these apartments have come under the management of shady and money-hungry people. They are making life difficult for me right now. I have followed all the rules and kept my home in a neat and orderly fashion up until I left, but they have still decided to withhold my security deposit and are now asking for more money. They are falsely accusing me of damaging the walls with screws and nails, which is a total lie as I never used either of those. They have also claimed that I left body oil stains on the bedroom wall, despite the fact that I had a massive headboard during my entire stay. They also said that I left them a dirty dishwasher, even though I lived alone and never used it. Even more absurdly, they charged me fifty dollars for "trash hauling" for leaving a bundle of five new cleaning tools (such as a pack of wipes and an unused mop, etc.), along with a note that said it "may be useful for them or the next tenant". When I asked to see pictures of the alleged damages they are charging me for, I received no response. Although I cannot deny the great service I received from Rick and Cody - the previous managers - who were very prompt and helpful, the place seems to have gone under a different kind of management since then.more ...hide ...

Not only are the apartments outdated, but the management is terrible. They are never around and if someone is present, it is a rookie with no experience who gives the wrong advice. Trying to get ahold of them to fix an issued maintenance request is a nightmare. The washing machines hardly ever work, and when they do, it smells like a sewer. Before moving here, take a look at the BBB website to find the multiple complaints from previous tenants about financial matters. They are money-hungry and will misuse the agreement you have with them while providing minimal service. The property manager, Cheryl Drew, is not of much help. She will do her best to avoid any responsibility her employees have to be punctual, professional, and ethical. I chose this place at first because of its location, but after living there I would rather stay in a clean and up to code place and go downtown when needed instead of facing such living conditions and shady management.more ...hide ...

Leasing agent was extremely rude to me when I got there. The office was closed when I first arrived so I waited until they were back from lunch. No big deal to me. The office was closed when I first arrived so I waited until they were back from lunch. No big deal to me. But then they were 15 minutes late coming back and when I turned around to walk away am employee came out of the backside of the office and rudely asked if she could help me. Like I didn€™t belong there. After asking if they had any apartments available she again rudely said no and that they were on a wait. I was only polite with my replies and yet she kept having an attitude. Disappointing but glad I know before I spent any more time or money on them.more ...hide ...

Without proof that one of them is doing something wrong, Regina, the property manager, has chosen to have a face-to-face confrontation with both of them instead of addressing it privately. Furthermore, threats and harassment towards one resident in regards to her housing assistance are unacceptable. I would expect Sandalwood Management to request proof if there is an issue and address it accordingly without any scandals in the office.
Regina's refusal to give her supervisors email and regional email when requested shows that there might be more going on in the office than what is being reported. Therefore, I will like a response from management quickly concerning this matter as per Fair Housing Procedures.more ...hide ...

They have no idea how many folks have been doing that. Its unenforceable, as more and more 20 Year olds are appearing wandering around the hallways. They even had one pair of shady tenants rip the washer/dryer money card machine right out of the wall next to the elevator---all on Mothers Day! People walking in and out, no need to enter a door code. I watched streams of grandkids and adult children bringing flowers and gifts through the lobby. I lived just down the hall and went to grab lunch. Thirty minutes later, I return to the lobby to see a small crowd of people standing next to a huge hole in the wall! Same thing happened with some local transients kept being spotted either wandering around wearing all black hoodies, or the cleaning crew surprised by some guy. Sleeping in a bathroom (they never bothered to repair the lock on the fence in the back despite being told numerous times). I started living there in 2017 shortly after having gone through a really rough health scare in New Mexico. My lungs were frail and I had to be on oxygen tanks all the time. I was sitting in the lobby and one of the agents came over and plugged in a fake perfume room deodorizer, very strong smelling stuff. There was no letting me know what she was doing. She just plugged it in and walked away! My oxygen tank was really obvious I would think. I decided to go to my apartment, just 100 feet down the hall. As I started walking I saw the other leasing office agent holding up a can of Air freshener, spraying it nonstop as I was forced to breathe in the chemicals. No apologies. She just said that some bigwigs from corporate were going to visit them and they wanted everything to be beautiful.more ...hide ...
