Major bus lines are not too far from the neighborhood making public transportation easy to access. They have community events as a way to build bonds among the neighborhood, a small local police office, and daycare. The community center is also very close by which offers many activities, and programs for employment training. The building where I live has a moisture issue in the basement, which is where their onsite laundry is located, and nothing to keep the area dry, so mold, spiders, house centipedes, and silverfish are an issue. There is only one washing machine and one dryer for eight units, and I dont think they are ever cleaned or serviced. I highly recommend you take your laundry to one of the local landromats. Since these buildings were constructed before central air was a requirement to insure safety of residents, you may find yourself shelling out a couple hundred to a thousand buying your own to survive the summer heat. Some of the structures in the building are made with cheap material, clearly not built to last. Wide gaps in some doors, and unsealed cracks around windows and siding make keeping your home warm in winter difficult. Some of the maintenance staff seems under trained and work comes out not as great as it should. Some issues are ignored, and sometimes priorities in fixing issues dont seem all that high there. I also dont believe they spray the grounds anymore as a form of pest control. Another issue is staff turnover can be unpredictable. You may get staff that is willing to deal with problems, or staff that is dismissive.Neighbors can be hit or miss. Some allow their children to make unreasonable noises at odd times of night, and some neighbors are blasting their music at inappropriate times of night. Luckly there is quiet hours and you can report violaters. Fighting is a sure thing with warmer weather, and some with dogs do not pick up their mess, and there is a littering problem with adults and children alike dumping trash in halls and outside. The concept of recycling bins also seems to be too difficult for some residents to understand, but Im happy the neighborhood provides them.more ...hide ...
