I am deeply worried about the quality of care provided to the clients living in this small memory care unit. The majority of the younger staff members lack appropriate training and show little respect, even less than one might expect to encounter in I am deeply worried about the quality of care provided to the clients living in this small memory care unit. The majority of the younger staff members lack appropriate training and show little respect, even less than one might expect to encounter in a fast food restaurant. Improvements in recognizing the identity of the clients, attentiveness, attire, behavior, language, and listening skills would be beneficial. Meals, which should be the highlight of the day, are often appalling. Some residents are taken to the dining area while still in their nightclothes, which is both degrading and off-putting for those in attendance. The food is usually lukewarm or cold and left sitting on trays for long periods of time. In cases where assistance with eating is required, staff should not resort to force-feeding to the point of choking. This is abusive and dangerous. As a frequent visitor, I was appalled to hear stories of people begging for help in the night which went unanswered; one resident even claimed they woke up with someone else in their bed. The occupants of the unit are scared and silenced, more so than anywhere else I have been. During the time my parent was a resident there, the management changed three times and the memory care unit was not a priority. Such a shame. more ... hide ...
