This was my experience and it does not mean it will be everyones experience but it was really weird. I called this complex from California looking for an apartment for my mom who was relocating from California to Lakewoo d. I spoke to Tori. She let me know there were no vacancies so I asked if there was a waiting list. She told me \"we dont do waiting lists\" which I thought was strange, especially for a senior community. I asked her how do they decide who moves in and she said, \"I decide who moves in based on need.\" I found this was an odd response considering this is an independent living community and the residents needs are different than an assisted living community. Who made her God and let her decide who can move in and who cant?? She then suggested that I call every 45 days to see if there is a space for my mom.I literally marked my calendar 45 days out and called yesterday which was the 45th day. When I called this time a woman named Brenda answered the phone. Brenda was pleasant and when I asked her if there was occupancy she told me no, but there is a waiting list. My jaw hit the floor. A waiting list?? She said yes, there always has been. I told her about what happened with Tori and she apologized. I told her that I needed to speak to a manager and she sent me to the managers voicemail.I left a detailed message for the manager and as of today I have not received a call back. I dont need a call back but they definitely need to know what Tori told me in case she is telling other people the same thing. I dont understand it but its a sign that I would definitely never have my own mother stay in a place that operates like this. Housing for seniors (and generally everyone) is important and should be treated with care. She should be ashamed of herself. more ... hide ...

Its been over a month since I moved into Lakeshore Tower and my experience here has been wonderful. Its peaceful and quiet. There is a lounge area that goes out into the courtyard and lawn where you can sit and enjoy th e view of the lake. Manager and the staff are busy at work maintaining the building yet take the time to listen to the residents needs. I love the limited access key entrance. I am in an efficency so everything is in one place which is fine considering Im the only person there. The room have a large storage closet and a roomy bathroom. Most of the residents are very friendly but I generally keep to myself. There is bus access outside the building. Overall, I am enjoying living here. more ... hide ...
