I just got off the phone with management after having a frustrating conversation with the leasing agent. When I called to ask about any available units, she asked me for my information and where I worked. She became hostile and told me it was due to a tax credit and that they had to make sure I could pay. As someone who works as a housing locator, even though tax credits are involved, an inquiry about vacancy shouldn't involve work inquiries. Wanting someone else on the line, when I asked she refused and began telling her assistant manager in the background that it was me who was rude. Outraged by this accusation in mid-sentence, she put me on hold; when she picked back up again, I requested to speak with the manager but was informed they didn't want to get on the phone. Politely informing her that as a potential tenant I'd like to communicate directly with them yielded no response before being transferred over. Mary from the assistant management team listened attentively as soon as we spoke while understanding my prior experience; all of my clients would have qualified but there wasn't anything available anyway. Planning on talking again tomorrow - here's some friendly advice for management: if your office staff aren't friendly or speaking badly of people calling in then you're not going receive many positive reviews/rental applications!
