From the start of February 2020 until the end of July 2021, I was a tenant at a place that was far from move-in ready. Without a refrigerator, walls with holes, chipped paint, stained carpet, a dirty bathroom and old appliances, I contacted corporate who gave me a $500 discount. Nothing was done to fix the issues due to COVID-19. When my lease expired in February 2021, I never received a renewal, so I called and was told they were behind on December leases and were still new, playing catch-up with their many changes in personnel. I was told to let them know if I would be vacating. I filled out a form in person and gave notice to vacate, but have since received the run-around about my deposit. Neither corporate nor Ester Cox have returned my calls or emails. Tiffany from the office called to say corporate claimed I broke my lease, but that made no sense since I was not in one. She then claimed tax credit could automatically renew me, which isn't true. When I went in person to ask for a copy of the lease, I discovered one had been forged and placed in my file without my signature. I am now consulting a lawyer and will be suing the company.
